Liberation Day marks the retrieval of Japanese colonies. Korea was liberated from Japan on August 15, 1945.
On Liberation Day, flags are raised and parades are held. Demonstrations and ceremonies are also conducted.
Liberation Day provides a chance to reflect on Korea's independence and sovereignty. The citizens come together to celebrate freedom.
